Reaching for the stars, one can at a time
We are Team Thunderbirds, a team of six high students and aspiring aerospace engineers from Semiahmoo Secondary in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
We are building a CanSat, a miniature satellite in the form factor of a soda can.
Despite its small size, our CanSat will be equipped with all the subsystems of a typical satellite, including sensors, radio communication, power supply and onboard computer.
Additionally, the CanSat will be paired with a rover on the ground which follows and catches the CanSat as it descends.

We are competing in the senior division of the CanSat Design Challenge, a national competition hosted by the CSDCMS (Canadian Satellite Design Challenge Management Society) where students design, build and launch a CanSat during the launch campaign in April.

December - January
To start, we will design the CanSat's structure with CAD and its internals with circuit diagramming and PCB design.
January - March
We will solder our electronics together, program the CanSat, 3D print the body and sew the parachute.
March - April
All internals of our CanSat, including the parachute will be tested by dropping it from a drone.
April
We will take our CanSat to Alberta for the launch campaign, where we will launch it on a rocket to an altitude of 1 km.
